Horses
November 2011 we had our family photo taken on horses.
Tom is on Chance (passed away Feb. 2013), Lauren is on Bannie, Seth is on Rosie (sold Dec 2011), I am on Mitzie (sold Oct 2012), Ole Dan is on a lead rope (passed away Jan. 2012), and Levi and Lydia are on Sunny (sold April of 2013).
As of July of 2013 Bannie is the only horse we still have here on the farm of the ones in the photo.

This is Lauren's fellow, Bannie. They are like two peas in a pod and he is a great 15.1 hand Quarter horse and a very beautiful young man at 16 years old in 2012.
Bannie is a lazy boy, so he has progressed to being my ride...nice and slow. Lydia goes on him double with me for a safe, quiet ride. Lauren is on to faster Smoke, though her heart and his are still tied tight :-) It's with GREAT Sorrow that I am typing the Bannie had a freak accident and broke his leg...he was humanely put to sleep in March of 2018.... He is SORELY MISSED!!

Here is Smoke. She is a very well trained Ranch horse from South Dakota. She has been used for ranch work, rodeos, sorting and penning. She is leg cue trained and needs very little rein or head directing.
She is registered and has a 2D brand on her right shoulder. She'll be 16 years old in 2013. We purchased her on Dec. 31st, 2012. Update....Tom is really enjoying riding Smoke.
She has Freckles Playboy and other famous horses in her pedigree.
Lauren is captivated with Smoke and her energy...they are enjoying each other tremendously!
Smoke actually gets mad at Lauren if she takes one of the other horses out for a ride and doesn't take her.
This horse LOVES TO RUN!!! She LOVES TO WORK CATTLE & SHEEP.
She is a wonderful horse for Lauren.
Lauren took Smoke to Calf Sorting for the first time on Sept. 10th 2014 and they both did fabulous......both loved it and had a great time!!
It is with great, great, great sadness that I have to say that Smoke lost a year long battle with several health setbacks and passed away on August 20th 2016.
Lauren is completely crushed and misses her more than words can express!
EMBERS
Our Dear Sweet Embers joined our family in April of 2016 when Smoke had to be separated from the herd due to her shoulder injury so Embers was her pasture mate (get the theme....Smoke and Embers!). We got her for free and she couldn't be any sweeter or more loving. She is just 2 years old and full of playfulness but is also calm and gentle to handle. She misses Smoke terribly. Lauren just loves her and she is a keeper for long term.
Embers is bred to a beautiful stud named Six Shooter and is due to foal in early April of 2018..... and on March 24th 2018 Embers had a beautiful boy baby.... his name is Fuego..which means Fire in Spanish.

COWGIRL
In Nov. 2015 we found Cowgirl for Lydia. He is a very well trained girl and was 10 years old in 2015.
She hasn't had much riding time due to our lack of time and her buddy sour attachment to Rio....so we hope in the fall of 2016 with Rio being sold and after she gets over a sore shoulder, that Lydia will be able to have more time in the saddle. Cowgirl was not quite for Lydia after sitting for over a year and went to a great family with lots of people to enjoy riding her.

ABBY and ASHWIN |
|
Here are the new additions to our Horse Family on June 5, 2014
Abby is the sorrel mare and Ashwin......an Indian for Horse. is the appy gelding.
Abby seems like she is going to work out just great for Levi for horse sorting!
Levi and Abby went to calf sorting for the fist time on Sept. 10th 2014.
They did really well....Abby was stubborn but Levi stuck with her and made her work.......she loved to run the calves to the other side of the barn. Levi even stayed on when she gave him a buck to say she had enough....he made her work harder and she behaved!!
We lost Abby after a long struggle with a paralyzed facial nerve which caused blindness in one eye and her inability to eat hay.
No long term solution was found and we had to have her put down in July 2015 :-(
Ashwin was dazed and lost without her for a few weeks.....it was very sad.
Sadly in Oct. of 2015 we also lost Ashwin.....our hearts will have a hard time healing from his loss. He was special and opened up a lot of people's hearts.
Here is Levi and Maggie. She is a lovely buckskin mare that suits him to a "T".
We got her in May of 2013 and she is approx. 15 years old.
Thanks Dan for your honesty about her and such a sweet mare for Levi
:-)
It is with very heavy hearts that we give
this update on Maggie. She passed away on Jan. 18th 2014 from a twisted
intestine. Taking her
to Michigan State University for surgery
was our only chance for saving her but that was not an option. She was a trooper
as Tom walked her
and I gave her pain shots but to no avail. We
MISS HER so very much!!! Poor Levi has lost a true friend :-(

A TRIBUTE TO OLE DAN!
Dan in the Fall of 2010 doing what he LOVED BEST!!!! Running his heart out!! A former barrel racer, this boy could GO!!
Dan's other purpose in life.....to give the young and the old a quiet, safe ride......always a gentleman....always took care of his rider :-)
Ole Dan is just that....old...he is 37 years old here in 2012 and we know his days are numbered here. We love him soooooooooooooooo much and are giving him all the best care we can. He is nearly completely deaf and blind so we take special care of him. He still loves to visit with us and we give him horsey cookies often.
We Love You Dan.....we are so glad we still have you to hug!!

SADLY WE LOST OLE DAN ON JAN. 14TH 2012. A VERY HARD/SAD DAY FOR US!
WE MISS HIM SO MUCH :-(
Chance is our special, loveable guy. He is our tallest at 15.3 hands but so sweet. Tom and Seth are his main riders. He is 21 years old in 2012.
We are so sad that we lost Chance on Sunday Feb. 24th due to his heart valve rupturing. We were so glad we were here to be with him. Bannie said good-bye to his old buddy. I miss him so much :-(

Here is Sunny. She is an 11 hand Hackeny pony and 16 years old in 2012. She can be sassy too. She is a good size for Levi and Lydia and she is also trained to pull a cart....how fun.
We sold Sunny to Scott, Tanger and Colt on March 12, 2013. She will have a super great home there...and she is only 10 minutes away. We are thrilled for her!

Rosie came here in May of 2009. We got her and Ole Dan from Lauren near Grand Rapids. We just sold her in Dec of 2011 but I felt the need to put her here since she held such a place in our hearts for so long and was Lauren's first real mount. They had heart strings for each other, even to the point when Lauren fell off and was hurt, Rosie came 1/4 mile, right up to the house to get me!!
We do miss her and hope she has years of good times with her new family. (Rosie was sold just days after we sold her, we are still looking for her)
